Endless Summer, Endless Winter

It's believed that a preternatural event upended the traditional cycle of seasons in Westeros. As I shoveled snow this morning for the first time in a long while, it occurred to me how wonderful it would be to have summer last for years. Then I realized how dismal life would be in the period of winter. Would it really be worth the trade-off?
Related discussion: Will the climate be "fixed" by the end of Ice and Fire? What event could restore the balance in seasons? If the final book is called "A Dream of Spring" as anticipated, do you think the story will end in winter or at the start of spring?
Would you prefer a world in which seasons last for years?
